Loss Prevention

The Insurer has introduced a number of loss control initiatives since September 1, 2007 including:

  • Loss control bulletins written by claims professionals on issues which give rise to claims.
  • Loss control "case studies", real life claims used to demonstrate what went wrong and how to avoid making the same mistake
  • Loss control seminars presented to real estate boards across the province of Ontario.

The Program Manager is in the process of developing other initiatives including consideration of a web-based risk management portal. We invite you to share your thoughts about what kind of loss control initiatives you would find of value. Please feel free to email us your comments at insurance@dion-durrell.com

Loss Control Bulletins

1.      The Importance of Reporting A Claim

2.      A Registrants Guide to the Claims Experience

3.      How much due diligence is enough

Loss Control Seminars

The Program Manager, in conjunction with a team of insurance professionals, developed a comprehensive and informative loss control presentation (the "seminar") that was offered in the summer of 2008. The response has been overwhelming as the seminar has been presented to real estate boards across the province.

The Insurer is pleased to announce that the seminars will be available to the real estate profession, through their boards/associations, throughout 2009 on the following basis:

1.      Advance booking required

2.      First time seminar request - Free of Charge

3.      Second time seminar request - Administration Charge $250.

Please complete the attached Request for Booking Seminar Form and email it to us using the embedded email link, or print, scan and email the form to insurance@dion-durrell.com or fax the form to 416-408-3721

For further information, real estate boards should contact us by calling the RECO Claims Hotline at 1-866-426-1666 or by email at insurance@dion-durrell.com.
